Solitude

 Date: June 15, 2025

In the whirlwind of modern life, the infusion of positive energy into our being is not just beneficial, it is essential. In today’s race against time, carving out a moment of peace for oneself is a luxury few can afford. Perhaps the world has given it a neat little name- Me Time.

The life of a common person is an ever-turning wheel of home, office, family, and countless unseen obligations. Amid all this, to pause and simply be with oneself is no small task.

Lately, I’ve been living alone, as my family is away. This solitude has been both a quiet teacher and a silent companion. After the office hours are done, I spend some time cooking for myself, tending to small household chores, and whatever time remains, I dedicate to reading the newspaper.

A humble newspaper, often overlooked in the digital storm, is still a mirror to the world. Some days, I dive deep into its stories and come out richer in thought. Other times, my mind wanders, and the words don’t quite land the way they should. Yet, there’s something serene in unfolding those pages, in letting the rhythm of ink and silence speak louder than any screen ever could.

No TV, no internet scroll, no social media noise can replace the gentle intimacy of reading in solitude. That, too, requires silence -not just around you, but within you.

And that’s the thing about solitude, it’s not loneliness. It is a space, sacred and still, where you begin to see yourself more clearly. It’s in these moments alone that we begin to truly know who we are.

From time to time, a little retreat into ourselves is not just desirable—it is necessary.
